"Save The Elephants" Poster

I made this project back in my typography class, a poster made to spread awareness for a social cause. The social cause I chose was saving the elephants because elephants are one of the biggest victims of poachers. My challenge for this project was to find a way to make people care.

 

People hear about terrible things all the time and just forget about it. My idea to keep their attention was to implement shock advertising. To accomplish this I decided to illustrate an elephants skull with a gunshot wound and blood dripping down. I created the elephant illustration by outlining an elephant and using the area type tool. This style of using specific text as a texture I used throughout the piece because repetition creates emphasis. I wanted the message of the piece to be seen over and over. 

 

I really loved working on this piece because I got the chance to express something I’m passionate about. Graphic design can be one of the most effective tools for bringing awareness. I hope that with this piece I can convince even one person to help make a difference.
