"Not Enough People Look up" Photo Quote 

This project was an iphone background that I made for my girlfriend’s  birthday. She once said to me "Not enough people look up" and it stuck with me. I then decided to create a design based on that quote.

For the location in this illustration I chose the place she said this to me in New York City. I wanted to recreate this moment as how I pictured it in my mind. Using photoshop brushes and clipping masks I tried to create a dreamlike reality. In order to visualize the quote I needed to find a way to link the sky, my girlfriend, and myself. The best way to do this was to use the same color and textures for all three. I decided on this color and texture for these because I wanted the sky to represent beauty and happiness. This heavily contrasts the rest of the piece which appears more dark and lonely. I chose this contrast to show how sometimes people can live there lives looking into the darkness missing out on all the beauty the world has to offer.

I wanted my girlfriend to use this background so she would always remember this moment and how much it meant to me. Getting caught up in the darkness of the world happens to everyone and sometimes you just need someone to remind you to look up.
